President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said his administration is fulfilling its promise to improve the living standards of Nigerians through strategic infrastructure development and urban renewal projects across the country.
The President made the remark on Monday while commissioning the newly rehabilitated and expanded road network from Karu Interchange to Customs Clinic Junction, along with other adjoining roads in Karu, Abuja.
The commissioning comes one week after the inauguration of the Karu satellite town water supply project, marking a continued push by the Federal Government to address infrastructure deficits in the area.
President Tinubu, who was represented at the event by Vice President Kashim Shettima, said the projects reflect the administration’s commitment to tackling urban congestion and improving the quality of life of residents.
He explained that the rehabilitation of roads in densely populated satellite towns like Karu is part of efforts to boost local economic activities, reduce travel time, and ease traffic bottlenecks.
According to him, the inclusion of solar-powered streetlights along the corridor is also aimed at improving safety, enhancing visibility, and reducing crime, particularly at night.
The President attributed the pace of infrastructural development in the Federal Capital Territory to the leadership of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, commending his supervision of ongoing urban renewal projects.
He also urged residents to take responsibility for protecting public infrastructure from vandalism and misuse, noting that such assets are meant to support long-term community development and economic growth.
The FCT Minister and other officials at the event reiterated the government’s commitment to sustaining infrastructure development and improving service delivery across the territory.
