Rep Abdulmumin Jibrin, representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in Kano State, has hinted at the possibility of leaving the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). In an interview with DCL Hausa, Jibrin stated, “Nothing is impossible,” suggesting that he could either remain in the NNPP or join other parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the African Democratic Congress (ADC), or the People’s Redemption Party (PRP). He added that he would make a formal announcement when the time is right.
Jibrin, who served as a campaign director for President Bola Tinubu in 2023, has maintained a cordial relationship with the president despite being in the opposition NNPP. He emphasized that any decision to leave the party would not stem from personal animosity toward NNPP leader, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, whom he continues to respect.
The lawmaker’s statement comes amid growing speculation about political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections. While he has not confirmed plans to join the APC, his recent meetings with President Tinubu have fueled discussions about a possible defection.
Political analysts suggest that Jibrin’s next move could influence party dynamics in Kano State and beyond, highlighting the fluid nature of Nigeria’s political landscape as parties prepare for the 2027 elections.
