President Tinubu’s Administration Moves to Settle Ex Servicemen’s Entitlements

President Tinubu’s administration has taken steps to resolve the long standing concerns of Nigerian ex servicemen by approving the commencement of payments for parts of their outstanding entitlements. The decision followed a closed door meeting between government representatives, the Ministry of Finance, the Military Pension Board, the Nigerian Army Welfare Insurance Scheme, and the Security Debarment Allowance department.

Leaders of the protesting veterans confirmed that the Federal Government assured them that disbursements would begin this week. They explained that the major issue stemmed from the use of an incorrect salary chart which placed many veterans under the wrong category. Negotiations are ongoing to address these discrepancies, including adjustments for packing allowances and other benefits.

Following this assurance, the ex servicemen agreed to suspend their week long protest at the Ministry of Finance in Abuja and expressed hope that the payments would be effected without delay. This move underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to the welfare of those who have served the nation with honour.
