South African rapper Nasty C has opened up about his battle with alcohol addiction and why he decided to quit drinking. The “Send Me Away” star revealed that he used to drink heavily every day—in the studio, at restaurants, and during performances. His tolerance was so high that he was often the last to feel intoxicated among friends.
Nasty C explained in an interview with Madame Joyce that his high alcohol intake was concerning because it masked problems until they became serious. He drank a wide range of spirits, including whisky, cognac, tequila, and rum, making it a constant part of his lifestyle.
The rapper said his main reason for quitting was to avoid developing what South Africans call a “phuza face”—a prematurely aged look caused by heavy drinking. “I don’t want to get a ‘phuza face’ and look 10 years older than I really am,” Nasty C shared.
