A three-day trade and investment forum aimed at enhancing economic relations between Nigeria and Tunisia concluded at the John Wood Hotel in Abuja. The forum, which began on September 10, was organized by the Tunisia-Africa Business Council (TABC) in collaboration with the Nigerian Embassy in Tunis and the Tunisian Embassy in Abuja.
The event was inaugurated by Tunisian Ambassador to Nigeria, Monsit Antit, who welcomed delegates from Tunisia, Nigerian government officials, and business leaders. Anis Jaziri, President of TABC, who led a delegation of 20 Tunisian businesses to the forum, expressed enthusiasm about the opportunities presented. “This forum is aimed at big opportunities for both countries,” Jaziri said. “I’m happy to lead the Tunisian business delegation to this forum.”
Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, represented by Ambassador Bolaji Akinjide, praised the initiative as a catalyst for improving bilateral relations. “Nigeria is open for business with Tunisia,” Akinjide stated. “This trade mission confirms our excellent bilateral relations and has great potential for enhancing economic collaboration.”
Akinjide also highlighted the forum’s role in aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to attract foreign investment. “This forum, being the first of its kind, will go a long way in fostering sustainable economic development,” he added. He also commended Hakeem Falusi, Charge d’Affaires at the Nigerian Embassy in Tunisia, for maintaining a strong relationship with Tunisian authorities and encouraging investment in Nigeria.
The forum saw participation from various stakeholders, including officials from Abia State, the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), the University of Abuja, and the Nigerian Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, as well as the Enugu State Chamber of Commerce. The event marked a significant step towards deepening economic ties between the two nations.
