Solomon Ewuga, a former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and senator who represented Nasarawa North in the 7th National Assembly, has died at the age of 70.

Family sources confirmed that Senator Ewuga passed away on Tuesday after a prolonged illness.

His political career spanned decades and left a deep imprint on both Nasarawa and Nigeria’s democratic landscape. Ewuga first gained prominence as Deputy Governor under Abdullahi Adamu, before moving to the federal stage as Minister of State for the FCT, where he played a significant role in Abuja’s development.

He later served as senator for Nasarawa North, where he established himself as a strong legislative voice and a representative deeply connected to his constituency.

In December 2023, he drew national attention when he formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) after years with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a move seen as underscoring his adaptability and continued relevance in Nigeria’s shifting political environment.

Beyond politics, Ewuga was widely regarded as a statesman whose leadership and resilience helped shape Nasarawa’s political history. His death, many observers note, represents the close of a defining chapter for the state and for Nigeria’s political class.

He is survived by his family, political allies, and admirers who remember him for his enduring service and contributions to the nation.
