President Tinubu Reassures Northern Christians of Fairness, Unity at Plateau Visit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his commitment to national unity, religious harmony, and fairness for all Nigerians during a visit to Jos, Plateau State. Speaking at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) headquarters, the President assured Christian leaders in the North that his administration remains dedicated to ensuring inclusivity and equal representation across religious lines. He emphasized his personal example of religious tolerance, noting that he is married to a Christian pastor and has never imposed his faith on anyone.

The President was in Plateau to attend the funeral of Mama Lydia Yilwatda, mother of the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda. Paying tribute, Tinubu described her as a devoted mother and humanitarian whose life exemplified service and compassion. He used the occasion to reiterate his government’s determination to combat terrorism, banditry, and farmers-herders conflicts, assuring that the nation is making steady progress toward defeating insecurity and strengthening the economy.

During the meeting, the COCIN President, Reverend Dr Amos Mohzo, commended President Tinubu for his inclusive leadership, especially through key appointments of Northern Christians such as Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and APC National Chairman, Professor Yilwatda. He also thanked the President for responding to security challenges in Plateau and Benue States and urged further support for conflict victims and displaced Christians from the North-East.

The funeral was attended by prominent figures including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, APC governors, service chiefs, and top government officials. The APC Chairman, Professor Yilwatda, expressed gratitude to the President for his support
