The Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, delivered a keynote address at Access Bank’s Corporate Customer Forum 2024, held at Eko Hotels in Lagos on Thursday. The event, themed “Nigeria’s Economic Rebirth: Hopes and Implications,” gathered stakeholders from various sectors to explore the country’s growth trajectory.

In his address, Minister Edun highlighted key reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration aimed at stabilizing the economy, reducing poverty, and fostering sustainable development. He reported positive signs of progress, including improved GDP growth, stabilized exchange rates, and increased government revenue. However, Edun acknowledged persistent challenges such as inflation and foreign exchange pressures, noting that the government is tackling these issues through the Accelerated Stabilization and Advancement Program (ASAP).

The Minister also outlined plans to enhance agricultural production, with initiatives to support 360,000 farmers and produce 1.4 million metric tons of essential crops. He emphasized the government’s medium-term priorities, calling for greater private sector involvement and stressing the need for public-private partnerships in sectors like mining, power, and agriculture.

The forum also showcased Access Bank’s sustainability initiatives, including its expansion into Kenya and commitment to green projects. Minister Edun commended Access Bank for driving important conversations on leveraging technology, promoting inclusivity, and adopting sustainable practices to propel Nigeria’s economic future.
