The House of Representatives has approved a proposal mandating the real-time electronic transmission of election results, a move aimed at enhancing transparency and credibility in Nigeria’s electoral process.

The resolution was adopted on Wednesday during the clause-by-clause consideration of a report seeking amendments to the Electoral Act 2022. Lawmakers emphasized that the measure would reduce the risk of result manipulation, ensure faster collation, and boost public confidence in elections.

The amendment is part of ongoing efforts by the National Assembly to modernize electoral processes and strengthen democratic governance in the country.
