Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives, has urged caution against unrealistic projections in the 2026 budget.

Speaking on Friday during a joint sitting of the National Assembly following President Bola Tinubu’s presentation of the 2026 Appropriation Bill, Abbas emphasized that overly optimistic assumptions could compromise fiscal discipline and erode public confidence in the budgeting process.

The Speaker highlighted lessons from the 2025 fiscal year, stressing the need for budgets to be based on credible, resilient, and realistic assumptions to ensure effective economic planning and governance.
