As Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day celebration approaches, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has called on Abuja residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the FCT, SP Josephine Adeh, made the appeal in a statement on Monday, urging citizens to utilize the command’s emergency hotlines—08032003913, 08028940883, 08061581938, and 07057337653—for quick reporting of potential security threats.
Adeh assured the public that the police have strategically deployed personnel and equipment across the FCT to ensure a smooth celebration. The security measures will include Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) units, anti-riot equipment, and increased visibility policing.
In anticipation of large gatherings, traffic diversions will be enforced in key areas such as Central Area and Eagle Square, where major events are expected to take place. The PPRO emphasized the command’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and secure Independence Day for all residents.
