Social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, appeared before the House of Representatives on Monday to address bribery allegations against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). However, he refused to testify, citing the absence of crossdresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, from the proceedings.
VeryDarkMan’s appearance follows the release of an audio recording in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed to have bribed EFCC officials with N15 million to drop money laundering charges against him. In the recording, Bobrisky also purportedly claimed to have avoided serving a six-month jail sentence at Kirikiri Prison in Lagos.
The House had summoned VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky, and EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, to probe the allegations. However, during Monday’s session, VeryDarkMan expressed his frustration, stating, “I don’t know why I will be here and the person who made these allegations is not here. Bobrisky said in the voice note that there is a godfather. Maybe the godfather told him not to come. He has disrespected this committee by not coming here.”
Despite encouragement from the committee members to speak on the issue, VeryDarkMan remained resolute, insisting that he would not testify unless Bobrisky appeared before the panel. “If Bobrisky is not here, I will not say anything. If I say anything, let me die,” he declared.
His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, assured the committee that they had additional evidence to support their claims, which had not yet been made public. He emphasized that while VeryDarkMan was willing to assist the committee, his client would only speak through legal counsel until Bobrisky also faced the panel.
