A group within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has welcomed the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate ahead of the next general election.

The group described Atiku’s emergence as a significant step toward strengthening the party’s chances at the national level, citing his political experience and leadership credentials.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, members of the group expressed confidence that Atiku’s candidacy would attract broader support across the country and reposition the ADC as a formidable force in Nigeria’s political landscape.

They also called on party members and supporters to remain united and committed to the party’s vision, stressing the need for collective efforts to achieve electoral success.

According to the group, Atiku’s emergence reflects the democratic process within the party and demonstrates the ADC’s readiness to provide credible leadership for Nigerians.

The group further urged Nigerians to support the party’s agenda, which it said focuses on economic growth, national unity, job creation, and improved governance.

The development comes as political parties continue consultations and preparations ahead of the forthcoming elections.
