The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports suggesting that he has endorsed a candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Rivers State.

Speaking on the political situation in the state, Wike stated that no decision has been taken regarding the endorsement of any governorship aspirant, stressing that such a move can only be made after consultations within the coalition of political stakeholders operating in the state.

According to him, the alliance, popularly referred to as the “Rainbow Coalition,” comprises members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and Action Alliance (AA), and any decision on the 2027 governorship race would be reached collectively.

Wike emphasized that all political blocs within the coalition remain active and are expected to continue their grassroots mobilization pending a formal meeting where a unified position will be adopted.

The former Rivers governor also maintained that the coalition has not settled on any candidate and urged supporters not to speculate about endorsements ahead of the party’s strategic consultations.

His comments come amid growing political realignments and speculation over potential candidates for the 2027 governorship election in Rivers State.
