Troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, have killed a suspected terrorist, rescued three kidnapped victims, and destroyed a bandits’ camp during a military operation in Zamfara State.
According to an operational report released on Saturday, the troops carried out the mission on June 12 across communities in Zurmi and Shinkafi Local Government Areas as part of ongoing efforts to combat banditry and insecurity in the North-West.
The soldiers encountered armed terrorists while conducting a fighting patrol through Birnin Saba, Yanbuki, and Sabon Garin Daudawa in the Yanbuki District of Zurmi.
A fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in the death of one suspected terrorist, while others fled the scene under sustained military pressure.
The troops subsequently advanced toward Sabon Garin Daudawa, where the fleeing criminals abandoned their camp upon sighting the advancing forces. The camp was cleared and destroyed to prevent its future use as a hideout and operational base.
During the operation, troops also rescued three kidnapped victims and evacuated them to safety.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive operations against terrorist and bandit groups operating across Zamfara and other parts of the North-West, emphasizing its determination to restore lasting peace and security in the region.
The latest success comes amid intensified military operations targeting criminal networks responsible for kidnappings, attacks on communities, and other violent crimes across the region. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
