Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has approved the appointment of Yerima Ibn Mahmud as the new Emir of Ngazargamu.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the Acting Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Mohammed Goje, following the recent passing of the late Emir of Ngazargamu, Alhaji Tijjani Ibn Saleh Geidam, who died in Egypt after a prolonged illness. The late monarch was laid to rest in Geidam on Thursday after funeral prayers were held in Damaturu.

According to the statement, the new Emir previously held the traditional title of Turakin Ngazargamu, a position he occupied for 16 years. He also served as a member of the Yobe State House of Assembly.

Governor Buni congratulated the new monarch and the people of the Ngazargamu Emirate on the appointment, expressing confidence in his ability to provide purposeful leadership.

The governor urged the Emir to leverage his wealth of experience to promote peace, unity, and harmonious coexistence among the people, while also supporting efforts aimed at advancing economic growth and development within the emirate and Yobe State as a whole.

He further called on residents of the emirate to rally behind the new Emir and support him in the discharge of his responsibilities, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in sustaining peace, unity, and prosperity across the domain.
