Security forces operating under Sector 1, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), have recorded notable successes in a series of coordinated operations across Kaduna State, disrupting criminal activities, apprehending suspected bandits, recovering rustled livestock, and restoring normalcy in affected communities.

On 20 June 2026, troops acting on credible intelligence regarding cattle rustling in a community within Kaduna State swiftly mobilised and engaged fleeing armed criminals. A firefight ensued, during which two suspected bandits were neutralised.

Weapons, ammunition, and rustled livestock were recovered from the scene.

The prompt response disrupted the criminal operation and led to the recovery of stolen animals. Sadly, one civilian lost his life during the incident as a result of actions by the bandits.

In a separate operation on the same day, troops on night patrol intercepted two suspected bandits. A search of the suspects led to the recovery of digital devices containing incriminating materials linking them to terrorist and bandit activities. The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation.

Similarly, on 21 June 2026, troops conducting a fighting patrol engaged armed criminals who fled into nearby bush after coming under pressure. Troops pursued and successfully apprehended two suspected bandit scouts. Motorcycles and communication devices containing incriminating evidence were recovered.

Preliminary investigations indicate their involvement in criminal networks, while further inquiries are ongoing.

In another development on the same day, troops responded swiftly to a civil disturbance in Mararraba community, Kaduna State, following the mob killing of a female suspect accused of child trafficking. The crowd reportedly attempted to attack public infrastructure and block a major highway, but security forces quickly restored order, dispersed the mob, secured critical facilities, and ensured the free flow of traffic while maintaining a strong presence to prevent further breakdown of law and order.

The Theatre Commander commended the troops for their professionalism, vigilance, and operational effectiveness, noting that the recent successes reflect ongoing efforts to relentlessly pursue terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements. He assured residents that intelligence-driven operations will continue to further degrade criminal networks and enhance security across the region. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
