The ongoing election in Ekiti State has recorded a mixed experience across polling units, with some areas witnessing delays due to technical challenges while others enjoyed early arrival of election materials and smooth preparation for voting.
At Polling Unit 001, St. Michael’s Primary School in Ado-Ekiti, voting had yet to commence smoothly as of 8:38 a.m. following a malfunction of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS). The device reportedly displayed an error message instructing officials to “contact the RA technician,” which stalled the accreditation process and delayed the start of voting.
A Channels Television correspondent, Seun Okinbaloye, reported from the scene that the situation had left voters waiting patiently as election officials worked to resolve the issue. The polling unit supervisor confirmed that a technician had been contacted and was expected to arrive to fix the fault and restore normal accreditation activities.
In contrast, a different experience was recorded at the Eleyoro Market/Odoba polling unit in Ado-Ereguru, where election materials arrived early. The timely delivery of sensitive materials created an atmosphere of preparedness and calm anticipation among voters, who gathered peacefully at the centre as officials set up for the commencement of voting.
The contrasting developments across polling units highlight both operational efficiency in some locations and technical setbacks in others, as the electoral process continues to unfold across the state.
