Leave Tinubu Alone, He’s Done His Part on Insecurity – Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu against criticism over the country’s security challenges, saying the President has fulfilled his constitutional responsibility in the fight against terrorism and banditry.

Speaking at the U.S.-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala in Washington, D.C., Adeboye urged Nigerians to stop blaming Tinubu for the nation’s insecurity, stressing that the President’s role as Commander-in-Chief is to give directives to the military and other security agencies.

According to the cleric, once the President issues orders to the armed forces, he has carried out his duty and cannot be expected to personally confront terrorists or bandits on the battlefield.

“I don’t support those saying the President has not done enough. Once he gives the order, he has done his bit,” Adeboye said, drawing a comparison with the role of the President of the United States, who also relies on military commanders to execute security operations.

Adeboye acknowledged that insecurity remains a major concern across the country, noting that terrorism, kidnapping, and banditry have spread beyond the North into other parts of Nigeria. He, however, maintained that the government should continue intensifying efforts to tackle criminal activities and those who sponsor them.

The pastor also disclosed that he believes God revealed to him the fate awaiting those behind acts of terrorism, expressing confidence that those financing insecurity would ultimately face justice.

His remarks have generated mixed reactions, with supporters agreeing that the President should be judged based on his constitutional role, while critics insist the administration should be assessed by the results of its security policies and the overall safety of Nigerians.
