Suspected bandits have killed one person and abducted four others during separate attacks on Kagadama and Bagel villages in Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
The attacks, which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, have heightened fears among residents, who say criminal gangs continue to operate freely in parts of the state despite ongoing security operations.
According to local sources, the gunmen invaded Bagel village and abducted four residents before fleeing into nearby forests. Security operatives were alerted, but the attackers had escaped before help arrived.
In a separate incident, another group of armed assailants attacked Kagadama village, where one resident was killed. The attack forced many villagers to flee their homes in search of safety.
The latest incidents have sparked renewed calls for stronger security measures across Dass Local Government Area.
Community leaders and residents urged security agencies to intensify patrols and dismantle criminal hideouts to prevent further attacks.
The incidents add to the growing wave of banditry and kidnapping affecting communities across northern Nigeria, where armed groups continue to target rural settlements for killings, abductions and ransom demands.
As of the time of filing this report, security authorities had not announced any arrests or provided an official update on efforts to rescue the abducted victims. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
