President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been credited with placing institutional reform above regional lobbying in the recent restructuring of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

According to reports, the President resisted pressure from influential interests in the South-West, opting instead to pursue reforms aimed at strengthening the commission’s operations and improving the management of Hajj affairs.

The reforms are intended to enhance transparency, accountability and efficiency in the administration of pilgrimage services for Nigerian Muslims.

Observers say the decision reflects the Tinubu administration’s commitment to prioritising competence, institutional effectiveness and national interest in appointments and reforms.

The changes at the Hajj Commission form part of broader efforts by the Federal Government to improve public institutions and deliver better services to Nigerians under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
