The Kogi State Government confirmed the rescue in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, who said the operation was carried out following the directive of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for an immediate security response after the incident.
According to the commissioner, the rescued victims include the school principal, Elder Daniel Iyanaa; NECO official, Mr. Solomon Audu; and two examination candidates. He said they were rescued unharmed and are currently undergoing medical examinations and security debriefing.
Fanwo disclosed that the rescue mission was coordinated by the State Security Adviser, retired Commander Jerry Omodara, with support from the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, local vigilantes, and other security agencies.
He noted that sustained pressure mounted by the joint security team forced the kidnappers to abandon the victims and flee, adding that security operatives have continued search operations to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
