President Bola Tinubu has issued a directive for the immediate release of all minors detained in connection with the #EndBadGovernance protests. This announcement was made by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, while briefing State House correspondents on Monday.

Flanked by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, and Sunday Dare, Special Adviser on Public Communications and Orientation, Idris outlined the President’s orders. “The President has directed that all minors be released and reunited with their families wherever they are in the country,” Idris stated. “A committee has been set up to examine the circumstances surrounding their arrest, detention, and release.”

The directive also includes a mandate for an investigation into the conduct of law enforcement officers involved in these cases. “All law enforcement agents related to the case will be investigated, and anyone found culpable will be held accountable,” Idris added.

This move by President Tinubu highlights the administration’s commitment to safeguarding the rights of young Nigerians and addressing concerns related to the handling of protests and law enforcement practices.
