Liverpool moved a step closer to equaling their record of 20 English top-flight titles with a resounding 5-0 victory over West Ham, extending their lead at the top of the Premier League to eight points. Goals from Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Diogo Jota secured the emphatic win in east London, leaving the Reds in a strong position as they head into the new year.

With the dominant performance, Liverpool have emerged as clear favorites to win only their second league title in 35 years. Surprising challengers Nottingham Forest sit in second place, though Arsenal and Chelsea have the chance to close the gap when they play later this week.

Despite the impressive form under manager Arne Slot, who has now overseen 23 wins in 27 matches across all competitions, the Dutchman has remained cautious. Slot has reiterated that nothing can be won yet, with Liverpool still a game short of the halfway point in the Premier League season. Nonetheless, his seamless transition from Jurgen Klopp’s tenure continues to impress, and Liverpool are well-positioned to challenge for the title in the months ahead.
