The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has called for a collective national effort to expose individuals and groups sponsoring terrorism, kidnapping, militancy, and other forms of violent crime across Nigeria.
Akpabio made the call during an inter-denominational church service held at the National Christian Centre in Abuja as part of activities commemorating Democracy Day. He stressed the need for unity, vigilance, and sustained prayers in the fight against insecurity.
The Senate President urged Nigerians to remain committed to supporting initiatives aimed at identifying and bringing to justice those financing criminal activities that threaten the nation’s peace and stability. He emphasized that sponsors of terrorism should be exposed regardless of their status, influence, or position in society.
Reflecting on his time as governor of Akwa Ibom State, Akpabio recalled introducing monthly prayer sessions to address security challenges, including kidnapping and militancy. He noted that collective action and faith played a role in overcoming those threats and expressed confidence that Nigeria could surmount its current security challenges.
He further acknowledged the hardship and suffering caused by insecurity, particularly the impact of kidnappings and violent attacks on citizens, while encouraging Nigerians not to lose hope in the country’s future.
According to him, exposing terrorism sponsors and dismantling their support networks remain critical steps toward achieving lasting peace, security, and national development. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
