Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has endorsed Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki (MFR) as his preferred successor and the preferred candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 governorship election in the state.

In a statement released on Tuesday ahead of the APC gubernatorial primaries, the governor said the decision followed extensive consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across Kwara State.

Governor AbdulRazaq described Amb. Yahaya Seriki as “young, pro-people, astute, and broad-minded,” adding that he is a strong political mobiliser with wide goodwill and significant investments across the state.

“I have no doubt about his capacity and that his choice is appropriate for the people of our state at this time,” the governor stated.

The statement noted that the endorsement was reached after broad internal consultations within the party structure.

Despite backing Yahaya Seriki, the governor maintained that the endorsement does not prevent other aspirants from participating in the APC primaries scheduled for Thursday, May 21, 2026.

He also urged party members and leaders to support the choice of Amb. Yahaya Seriki in the interest of party unity, cohesion, and continued electoral success in Kwara State.
