The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has emphasized that improving education and strengthening community cooperation with security agencies are critical to effectively tackling insecurity in Nigeria.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Kaduna Christian Academy in Kaduna State, General Musa said that military force alone cannot resolve the country’s security challenges. He stressed that a sustainable solution requires addressing the root causes of insecurity, particularly through education and youth empowerment.
According to him, education plays a vital role in preventing crime and violent extremism by equipping young people with knowledge, skills, and opportunities. He described schools as “tools of transformation” capable of reducing vulnerability to criminal influence and social instability.
The Defence Minister also urged Nigerians to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information, noting that many criminal groups rely on local collaborators to operate. He said effective intelligence sharing between communities and security forces remains essential in combating terrorism, banditry, and other forms of violence.
General Musa further called for greater investment in youth development and community-based initiatives, saying such measures are necessary to address the socio-economic conditions that often fuel insecurity.
He reaffirmed that national security is a collective responsibility that requires cooperation between government institutions and citizens to achieve lasting peace and stability. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
