Security operatives in Ogun State have arrested 46 suspected undocumented migrants during a coordinated enforcement operation involving the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.
The exercise, carried out by troops of the 35 Artillery Brigade in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigeria Immigration Service, took place across Ijebu-Imushin, Ijebu-Ilese, and surrounding communities following intelligence reports.
According to the Army, the operation was aimed at identifying and apprehending foreign nationals residing in the area without valid immigration documents.
Preliminary information suggests that the suspects had been living in the communities for several months without proper authorization.
The individuals arrested are said to include nationals from Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, and Senegal. They were taken into custody for interrogation before being handed over to the Nigeria Immigration Service in Ogun State for further investigation and possible legal or administrative action.
Authorities say the operation is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen internal security, enforce immigration laws, and curb irregular migration within the state. Visit www.jocomms.com for more news.
