Gombe NYSC Coordinator Commends 1,268 Corps Members, Announces Disciplinary Actions

The Gombe State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Chinwe Nwachukwu, on Thursday, lauded the efforts of 1,268 Batch A, Stream I corps members who successfully completed their service year in the state.

Speaking at a low-key passing-out ceremony held at the zonal office, Nwachukwu also disclosed that 16 corps members are set to face disciplinary actions, while 21 will be remobilized for various infractions.

“1,268 Batch A, Stream I Corps members are passing out; those with disciplinary cases are 16 and 21 for remobilisation,” she stated during her farewell address.

Celebrating a Year of Service

The coordinator expressed her pride and gratitude for the dedication shown by the outgoing corps members during their mandatory one-year national service.

“My dear compatriots of the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream I service year, I heartily salute you for the successful completion of your sojourn in Gombe State for the one-year mandatory national service to the nation and humanity at large,” Nwachukwu said.

She continued, “I am filled with great joy and very proud of all you have accomplished during the service year. May all your sacrifices and selfless services to the socio-economic development of the nation be rewarded. As you step out in grand style to greater heights, we return profound gratitude to Almighty God for granting you the courage to scale through it all.”

Contributions to Community Development

Highlighting the positive impacts made by the corps members, Nwachukwu praised their involvement in education, health, agriculture, and various community development service projects. She emphasized that their contributions to nation-building will leave a lasting legacy.

According to her, “Posterity will forever remember them for contributing their quota to nation-building through positive impacts in their host communities through education, health, agricultural sectors and community development service projects.”

Fostering Unity and Preparing for the Future

Nwachukwu also commended the corps members for embracing the culture and traditions of their host communities, which she described as crucial for fostering national integration and unity.

“You have equally learnt valuable lessons about the culture, customs, and traditions of the people of Gombe State, which I hope will bring about the desired rebirth, national integration, and unity Nigeria craves for,” she said.

As the corps members move forward, Nwachukwu encouraged them to leverage the skills and knowledge gained during their service year. She emphasized the importance of the NYSC’s Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme as a tool for self-reliance and career growth.

“Whether you decide to further your education, pursue a career, or start your own business, I am confident that you will make a difference in your respective fields,” Nwachukwu stated.

She also urged the outgoing corps members to sustain the relationships they built during their service year, highlighting their role in breaking down cultural barriers and promoting unity.
