President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to prioritize and complete all critical abandoned infrastructure projects across the Niger Delta. Speaking through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, during the NDDC’s 25th anniversary event in Port Harcourt, the President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the development and economic revitalization of the region.
Among the key projects slated for completion are the Kaa-Ataba and Okrika-Borokiri bridges, the Bonny Ring Road, Gbaregolo roads and bridges, and several ongoing works along the East-West Road corridor. Tinubu emphasized that these infrastructure projects are vital for boosting connectivity, enhancing commerce, and improving the quality of life for people in the oil-rich region.
Beyond physical infrastructure, the President also highlighted the importance of investing in human capital through initiatives like “Light Up the Niger Delta,” assuring full federal backing for NDDC to fulfill its mandate. He reiterated that the Niger Delta remains a strategic priority under his Renewed Hope Agenda and must not be left behind in the nation’s broader development drive.
