The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has cautioned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and other stakeholders against attempts to derail the party’s forthcoming national convention slated for November 15, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
In a communiqué issued at the end of its 7th meeting held on Saturday, August 23, in Gusau, Zamfara State, the Forum reaffirmed full support for the resolutions of the 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of July 2025, which endorsed the convention. The governors described the PDP as Nigeria’s only democratic institution and a viable alternative capable of restoring the nation to the path of good governance and development.
Chaired by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, the meeting deliberated on national insecurity, the erosion of democratic values, and preparations for the convention. The governors commended the resilience of party members in the face of orchestrated defections, while accusing the ruling APC of divisive governance and policies that continue to deepen hardship across the country. They pledged commitment to rescuing Nigeria and strengthening the PDP’s grassroots appeal.
