Residents of Osun and Ondo States have cried out over the worsening condition of federal roads, urging the Federal Government to act fast.
In Osun, major roads in Osogbo, including Ofafedo, Ogo-Oluwa, and Owode-Ede Market Road, are in disrepair, disrupting business and endangering commuters. The Ibadan–Ife–Ilesa highway, a vital federal route, is also riddled with potholes despite repeated accidents and only patchwork fixes by FERMA.
In Ondo, motorists complain about the Ondo–Akure, Ondo–Ife, and Ondo–Ile-Oluji roads, where potholes cause frequent accidents and delays. Rural communities in Akoko North West also lament neglect, citing health hazards from dust and stalled projects.
While the FG has launched an emergency intervention tagged “Operation Free Our Roads”, locals insist that temporary measures are not enough. They demand full rehabilitation to save lives and revive economic activity across the South-West.
