Nigeria’s Folashade Oluwafemiayo has made history by breaking her own world record in the women’s over 86kg Para-Powerlifting category. In a remarkable display of strength, Oluwafemiayo lifted 166kg, surpassing her previous record of 165kg. This achievement not only secures her position as the first Para-athlete to lift this weight but also earns her a gold medal.
Oluwafemiayo’s extraordinary performance has contributed to Nigeria’s total medal count at the Paralympics, bringing it to seven. Her victory comes just as the Super Eagles prepare for their AFCON qualifier match against Benin Republic, adding to a week of national pride.
