Ex-BBNaija Season 7 winner Phyna, born Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, mourns the loss of her sister Ruth Otabor, who passed away on August 31, 2025, from injuries sustained when a Dangote Group truck ran into her near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State. Ruth had just graduated six days before the accident .
The accident, which occurred on August 13, left Ruth with life-threatening injuries, including the amputation of one leg and severe damage to the other, alongside head and hand injuries. Despite extensive medical support and demands for justice from Phyna, Ruth’s condition worsened, leading to her death early Sunday morning .
Phyna has been outspoken, accusing Dangote Group of negligence and calling for accountability as she advocates for justice. The Dangote Group initially pledged full medical care and compensation but faced backlash following the tragic outcome. The family has requested privacy to mourn and will announce funeral arrangements in due course.
