FG Declares Friday, September 5, Public Holiday for Eid-ul-Mawlid

The Federal Government has declared Friday, September 5, 2025, a public holiday to commemorate Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him). The announcement was made in a statement issued by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, on behalf of the Minister.

The government congratulated Muslims across Nigeria and the world, urging them to reflect on the Prophet’s exemplary virtues of peace, love, humility, tolerance, and compassion. The statement further encouraged Nigerians of all faiths to use the occasion to pray for peace, security, and stability in the nation, while supporting ongoing efforts toward unity and national development.

The Minister of Interior extended warm wishes to Muslims for a joyous and peaceful Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration, calling on citizens to uphold the spirit of togetherness and strengthen bonds that foster harmony across the country.
