In a significant ruling on Tuesday, a Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, mandated that DNA tests be conducted on Liam Aloba, the two-year-old son of the late Nigerian artist Mohbad. The order came following an application by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, seeking to establish paternity. The court instructed that the tests take place both in Nigeria and abroad to ensure credibility.

Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga emphasized that the DNA samples must be collected in accredited and recognized hospitals with the presence of both parties or their representatives. The motion was uncontested by Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, who is listed as the respondent in the suit, signaling a cooperative stance in the legal process.

This ruling marks a critical development in the family dispute, aiming to settle questions around the child’s lineage with scientific certainty. The dual testing approach highlights the court’s commitment to accuracy and fairness in resolving the sensitive matter.
