Former Premier League referee David Coote has been charged with making an indecent image of a child, Nottinghamshire Police confirmed on Wednesday. The 43-year-old, from Collingham, is scheduled to appear before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, September 11.

According to authorities, the allegation stems from a video recovered by officers in February. The charge of making an indecent image of a child typically covers acts such as downloading, saving, or sharing abusive photos or videos.

Police disclosed that Coote was formally charged on August 12 and has since been released on conditional bail. The case is now set to proceed in court, where further details are expected to emerge.
