BREAKING: DSS Summons Dangote Refinery, NUPENG to Emergency Meeting Over Labour Dispute

The Department of State Services (DSS) has summoned the management of Dangote Refinery and the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) to an emergency meeting amid rising tensions over an alleged breach of agreement concerning workers’ rights to freely join the union of their choice.

The development comes after reports surfaced that the refinery had resisted efforts by employees seeking NUPENG representation, sparking fears of industrial unrest in the nation’s oil and gas sector.

The DSS is expected to mediate in the dispute to prevent disruptions at the $20 billion refinery, which has been billed as a game-changer for Nigeria’s petroleum industry.

Details of the meeting are still unfolding.
