The Federal Government, under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, has intensified efforts to enhance food production by distributing free farm inputs and equipment to smallholder farmers across the country.
In Niger State, the Ministry delivered assorted items including fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, tomato seeds, knapsack sprayers, power tillers, and water pumps to farmers, women, youth, and internally displaced persons. Similar interventions were carried out in Benue and Nasarawa States, where farmers received thousands of bags of fertilizer, irrigation equipment, rice seeds, threshers, and solar-powered sprayers.
Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, explained that the initiative aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to achieve food self-sufficiency, promote year-round farming, and reduce the cost of food nationwide. He emphasized that the government is ensuring inclusivity by targeting vulnerable groups, while also working to strengthen the agricultural value chain.
