
The Nigerian Exchange (NGX) closed positive on Monday as the All-Share Index (ASI) advanced by 0.79%, adding 1,113.34 points to settle at 141,659.03, compared to 140,545.69 in the previous session.
Market capitalization rose by about N700 billion, climbing to N89.62 trillion from N88.92 trillion. Trading activity also strengthened as investors exchanged 555.1 million shares, up from 434 million in the last session.
Top Gainers and Losers
LIVINGTRUST topped the gainers’ chart with a 9.96% increase, followed by ETRANZACT at +9.70%. Other strong performers included REGALINS, NNFM, and UNILEVER.
On the flip side, MCNICHOLS shed 9.90%, while HONYFLOUR lost 9.13%. UACN, OMATEK, and CHAMPION also recorded declines.
Trading Highlights
GEREGU emerged as the most actively traded in value terms, posting N10.2 billion in transactions.
By volume, UACN led with 67.1 million shares, trailed by REGALINS, ACCESSCORP, LASACO, and CHAMS.
Market Outlook
The market’s rebound builds on momentum from early September, when the index slipped below 139,000 points. Analysts suggest continued strength in blue-chip stocks could push the ASI closer to the 142,000-point mark in the near term.
