The former Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-Ete Ibas, on Wednesday swore in Mrs. Inyingi Brown as the substantive Head of Service before officially leaving office. Brown, who had been serving in an acting capacity since the resignation of George Nwaeke, formally assumed her new role at the ceremony in Port Harcourt.
Ibas, in his remarks, charged Brown to demonstrate the same dedication under Governor Siminalayi Fubara as she did during the interim administration. He also used the occasion to deliver his farewell speech, highlighting the conduct of local government elections, reconstitution of statutory boards, and the passage of the state budget as key milestones achieved during his tenure.
President Bola Tinubu had in March 2025 declared an end to the State of Emergency in Rivers State, which was imposed following months of political turmoil. The move cleared the way for the return of democratic governance after the suspension of Governor Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and members of the state House of Assembly, and the appointment of Ibas as Sole Administrator.
