The Enugu State Government has signed a landmark N100 billion joint venture with Songhai Sustainable Initiative and Tribu Limited to revive the moribund Heneke Integrated Farm in Ezeagu Local Government Area.

The partnership will operate under a newly established Special Purpose Vehicle, Enugu Tribu Songhai Farms Ltd, which will oversee the development of the farm’s 10,000-hectare expanse.

Under the agreement, the project will feature large-scale crop production, animal husbandry, aquaculture, renewable energy systems, food processing plants, and eco-tourism facilities. A 25-hectare training and incubation centre will also be set up to empower youths and women with modern agricultural skills.

Governor Peter Mbah, represented at the signing, said the initiative would transform Enugu into a hub of agro-industrial excellence, create thousands of jobs, boost food production, and enhance exports.

The deal includes a strong governance framework to ensure transparency, protect state interests, and guarantee compliance with regulatory standards.

Officials from Songhai and Tribu expressed confidence that the project would serve as a model for sustainable agriculture and rural development across Nigeria.
