Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has disclosed that his administration has awarded road construction contracts worth over N200 billion, covering more than 350 kilometres across the state.
Speaking on the state’s infrastructure strides, Oyebanji said over N150 billion has already been paid to contractors, with 126 kilometres of roads completed while others are at various stages of construction.
According to him, the roads were carefully selected to link commercial centres, connect large communities, and provide alternative routes to ease traffic and boost economic activities.
The governor also highlighted his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, noting that more than N118 billion has been disbursed for pensions, gratuities, leave bonuses, and other payments to retirees since he assumed office.
While the government has defended the investments as critical to economic development, opposition voices have called for greater transparency, demanding detailed accounts of how the funds were spent.
