The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the February 21, 2026 Federal Capital Territory Area Council elections, confirming that 17 political parties are cleared to participate.

INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, made the disclosure in an official statement.

The Commission explained that the publication of the final candidates’ list comes after the deadline for withdrawal and substitution of candidates had expired, ensuring that all eligible participants are now formally listed for the polls
