Werder Bremen striker Victor Boniface has been called in by club officials after a string of controversial social media posts caused a stir in Germany, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The 24-year-old Nigerian, on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, arrived in Bremen this summer with high expectations but has unsettled his new club with unusual online activity, according to EXPRESS.

“Boniface has caused real trouble at Werder Bremen. The reason is strange social media posts. Now the striker has to report to the bosses,” the outlet noted.

Boniface, who is known for mixing humor with blunt advice on his platforms, recently posted a photo of his damaged car mirror on Snapchat, followed by cryptic messages on Instagram. One post in particular — warning men not to waste money on too many women but suggesting “up to four” could be acceptable — drew widespread attention.

While many of his Nigerian fans took it in stride, Bremen officials were reportedly puzzled. BILD, via EXPRESS, said the matter will be handled internally, with club bosses inviting Boniface for talks.

The post also caught the eye of Canadian rapper Drake, who responded with a laughing emoji. Boniface replied playfully, telling him to “dm for more advice.” His exchanges with critics have been less lighthearted; one viral response saw him mock a fan’s wig after being accused of unprofessionalism, sparking debate about his conduct.

Off the pitch, Boniface’s career has faced setbacks, including a failed AC Milan medical over recurring knee issues before his surprise move to Bremen. On the field, he has logged just 45 minutes in two appearances, registering an assist in a 4-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach before struggling in a 3-0 loss to Freiburg.

Head coach Horst Steffen admitted the striker’s positioning “was not as I wanted,” but praised his energy in training ahead of Friday’s Bundesliga clash with Bayern Munich.

Boniface, who wears the No. 44 shirt after his preferred No. 22 was taken by teammate Julian Malatini, has said he is eager to prove himself in Bremen despite the early controversy.
