The Federal Government of Nigeria is stepping up efforts to strengthen the nation’s food supply through enhanced seed certification reforms. The Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, recently paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kiyari, to discuss collaboration on advancing Nigeria’s food security agenda.
During the meeting, the ministers focused on expanding access to certified seeds, establishing a decentralised seed certification system with strict quality controls, and finalising preparations for the upcoming dry season farming. The reforms are aimed at improving agricultural productivity, reducing food inflation, attracting private sector investment, and ensuring sustainable economic growth for Nigeria.
