The Federal Ministry of Finance has announced significant progress under the National Social Safety Net Project Scale Up (NASSP–SU), which is providing direct cash transfers to some of Nigeria’s poorest households.

According to the latest update, 8.1 million households—representing 54% of the target—have already received payments, with 2.2 million new households benefitting between June and August 2025. Each household is entitled to ₦25,000 in three instalments.

The ministry emphasized that the initiative is reaching every region of the country, with increasing attention on female-led households, to support family welfare and reduce vulnerability. Beneficiaries also cut across different age groups, ensuring inclusivity.

While personal names cannot be published due to privacy laws, the aggregated data released shows a clear regional, gender, and age distribution of payments, reinforcing transparency in the program.

The statement stressed that the transfers are not symbolic promises but real cash benefits already changing lives, as millions of households are receiving support directly.

The NASSP–SU is a key part of Nigeria’s broader poverty reduction and social protection strategy, aimed at cushioning vulnerable households against economic shocks and promoting social stability.
