Atlético Madrid Crush Real Madrid in Derby Thriller to Win Debate of Madrid

The Madrid derby at the Wanda Metropolitano turned into a rollercoaster spectacle as Atlético Madrid demolished Real Madrid 8–5 in one of the most dramatic clashes in recent history.

The first half was pure chaos, ending 4–4 with goals raining from both sides. Robin Le Normand and Alexander Sørloth put Atleti ahead early, only for Kylian Mbappé and Arda Güler to drag Real back level. Nicolás González restored Atlético’s lead before Sørloth struck again in stoppage time, but Real’s relentless counter saw Arda Güler pull them level again at the break.

The second half, however, belonged entirely to Diego Simeone’s men. Julián Álvarez converted a penalty in the 51st minute to spark an avalanche. Lenglet, Álvarez again, Gallagher, and substitutes Simeone Jr., Griezmann, and Baena tore Real’s defense apart, with Gallagher’s stoppage-time strike sealing the humiliation.

Despite goals from Marco Asensio, Eduardo Camavinga, and Rodrygo, Los Blancos simply could not match Atlético’s ferocity. The late consolation from Mastantuono was drowned in a wall of red-and-white celebrations.

This emphatic victory not only secures bragging rights in the Spanish capital but also sends a loud message across La Liga: Atlético Madrid are no longer just the stubborn underdogs—they are the kings of Madrid tonight.
