Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Abuja after representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, where he delivered Nigeria’s national statement and advanced key diplomatic and economic priorities. His mission underscored Nigeria’s push for comprehensive UN reforms, stronger global partnerships, and Africa’s sovereignty over its estimated $700 billion worth of mineral resources.

During his international engagements, VP Shettima met with global leaders and institutions, including the United Kingdom and the Gates Foundation, forging stronger strategic partnerships. He also held high-level discussions with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who commended Nigeria’s bid for a permanent seat on the Security Council.
