The Federal Government has announced plans to launch a nationwide Integrated Immunization and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) Campaign on October 6, 2025, to strengthen routine immunization and accelerate efforts against preventable diseases. The campaign will be coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare through the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA).
Health Minister Prof. Muhammad Pate said the programme will deliver vaccines for measles, rubella, polio, and the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), while also providing preventive treatments for NTDs such as river blindness, lymphatic filariasis, schistosomiasis, and soil-transmitted helminths. He noted that the integrated approach will expand coverage, reduce duplication, and improve the efficient use of resources across the country.
The national flag-off ceremony will feature First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu as Special Guest of Honour and will bring together health workers, community leaders, and international partners. Officials say the campaign, expected to reach millions of children and adolescents, underscores Nigeria’s commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and improving the well-being of vulnerable populations.
